About Warrenton Trails Association

Contact | Minutes | Board of Directors | As We Grow |Documents and Minutes

The Warrenton Trails Association (WTA) was formed in 2003 to help explore, detail, and realize our vision of a regional trail system . Our first step was to see if the vision was achievable, and to our surprise it was not only possible, but walkable and rideable today. Still, much remains to be done to turn the complete vision into a reality.  We invite you to explore and help us build more.

Our Vision:  To create, enhance and support maintenance of a 25 mile, multiuse trail loop through historically significant public land areas within the City of Warrenton and Clatsop County.

Our Mission: To establish a trail system by developing, improving and expanding the existing 4.5 mile Warrenton Waterfront Trail, into a 25 mile trail loop, with public cooperation, stewardship, and preservation of the natural resources thereby enhancing our area's livability.

Our Goals:   To enhance the City of  Warrenton and surrounding area's livability by developing a continuous trail system that would use the existing Warrenton waterfront trail as a bench mark and connect to the existing Fort Stevens State Park trails, the national Fort to Sea trail, the Warrenton dike trails and all the areas in between, into an approximately 26 mile multiuse trail loop.

Vision Plan

Trail Sign

The vision and plan originated by the Warrenton Trails Association in partnership with the National Parks Service, Rivers & Trails program was adopted by the city of Warrenton in 2008. The plan is managed by the City of Warrenton with continuous advocacy and support by the WTA.  Please visit the City of Warrenton web site for more plan details.

   As We Grow
Planning, projects and advocacy are discussed       at every WTA meeting.  We coordinate               projects with the City Public Works staff and anticipate paving the 1st St. Trail following the construction of City sewer lines.  This planned trail has secure funding from the Quincy Robinson Fund and WTA.  Completion of the Warrenton Waterfront Trail and connections to Ft. Stevens State Park and the Skipanon Marina are high priorities for WTA.
