Airport Dike Trail
This trail is a route favored by birders, joggers, and dog walkers. To support such multiple use we strongly support having our dogs on leash. A cautionary tale: a few years back several dogs drowned after being sucked into the dynamic tidal waters that flow through the culverts. The trail features a "mitigation wetlands bank" at the southern entrance that is monitored by the Youngs Bay Watershed Council and Astoria High School students. The panoramic vistas offer waterfront views where thousands of waterfowl congregate, the hills of Astoria shine and the occasional small aircraft takes wing.
