Paw Icon Warrenton Dog Park

At the trail head to the Warrenton Waterfront Trail at Eben H. Carruthers Memorial Park on NW Warrenton Dr., you can find a park that’s gone to the dogs. Dogs and their people are pretty happy about it too!

Directions to the Dog Park can be found on the Warrenton Waterfront Page

The Warrenton dog park is the first fully fenced off-leash dog park on the Dog ParkOregon Coast.  The all volunteer effort of a small group of citizens started with research and surveys to see if there was enough interest in such a park. Finding interest, the group solicited community input and created concept plans for presentation to the City of Warrenton. The City Commissioners formal approval of the dog park received a standing ovation by those present and fund raising began in earnest.

Dog ParkVolunteers raised the funds through gifts and grants and began construction in the summer of 2007. Novice builders created a secure and inviting dog park with a concrete entry and doggy wash station. Rolling forested vistas at Carruthers Park on the Columbia River welcome you. The dog park is a 2/3 acre area with double gated entries, separate large and small dog sections, pet water and waste stations, benches and room to play.

Dog Park in WarrentonThe dog park officially opened in August of 2008 and has proven to be the most popular park activity for daily use. Upgrades have continued with night lighting, rebuilding of the most heavily used areas of the park, ADA compliant restroom upgrades,  paving of the Waterfront Trail and parking lot, and a new double gated entry.   Further improvements include a community message board.  There is a fun article about the park in Bow Wow News (bowwownews.com)- Read the PDF File)

The dream list envisions a drinking water fountain accessible to all and a rain Dog Park at Caruthers Park in Warrenton Oregonshelter with consideration of our coastal rain forest climate. The dog park is a wonderful place for people and their best friends to socialize and share the fun. Well socialized and exercised dogs behave best and are ready to have a positive, on leash, trail hike with their favorite companions.

We invite you to experience the park landscapes and this trail head for the Warrenton Waterfront Trail system.

Volunteers Make it Happen!

Volunteers are the good citizens who help with maintenance, empty the trash and contribute funds to keep this community treasure operating. Improvements, repairs and supplies for the dog park can be costly. If you would like to help ensure the Warrenton Dog Park continues to thrive, please help with a tax deductible contribution.
